Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students in schools, supporting teachers and classrooms to improve academic success and attendance. This entry-level, paid, full-time role provides training and ongoing guidance as you serve in schools.

You'll work with elementary to high school students, create engaging activities, monitor progress, and participate in school-wide initiatives while earning a bi-weekly living stipend and access to AmeriCorps education benefits.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident eligibility.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Background check required.
• GED or high school diploma or equivalent.
• Some college or degree is welcome.

Responsibilities

• Coach 1:1 and small groups to improve literacy and math.
• Support teachers with classroom instruction and progress reviews.
• Plan and monitor student progress and celebrate achievements.
• Lead extended day and after-school activities and programs.
