Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve in schools to coach and mentor students toward academic success, improved attendance, and positive behaviors. You will plan and monitor individual progress while supporting teachers with in-class instruction and student assistance.

We provide 2–4 weeks of initial training, ongoing guidance, and a range of benefits. This is an entry-level, full-time paid AmeriCorps position beginning in mid-summer, with location-based start dates.

Qualifications

• Training provided at the start of the year to support you.
• Work with partner teachers and school staff every step of the way.
• Experience in these tasks is not strictly required; we provide 2–4 weeks of training.

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities by student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress and data.
• Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space with the teacher.
