Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels, supporting academic success and improved attendance. You’ll plan, monitor progress and partner with teachers to implement classroom strategies.

Training is provided, with a July/August start in multiple locations; benefits include AmeriCorps program supports and various educational opportunities. You’ll join a nationwide City Year effort focused on student outcomes, equity, and community impact,

Qualifications

• No prior AmeriCorps experience required; 2–4 weeks of training provided at the start of the year.
• Ability to work with teachers and school staff throughout the program.
• Commitment to beginning City Year by July/August 2025 (start date varies by location).

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities by student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system.
• Collaborate with teachers and team members to monitor student progress and data.
• Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space with the teacher.
