Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor elementary, middle and/or high school students to boost academic success and attendance. You'll plan progress, work with teachers on class instruction, and help create a positive classroom environment.

Training is provided at the start of the year, with ongoing support from teachers and staff. Benefits include health/dental/vision insurance, peer support programs and a bi-weekly living stipend.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; 2–4 weeks of training to start.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are useful.
• Supportive team environment with teachers and staff.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to improve academics and attendance.
• Plan and monitor student progress and provide 1:1 or small-group support.
• Collaborate with teachers to support instructional activities and classroom spaces.
• Support extended day and after-school programs and student clubs.

Education
