Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels, focusing on academic success, attendance, and positive behavior. You’ll plan and monitor progress, work with teachers on classroom instruction, and support whole-school initiatives.

Training is provided (2–4 weeks at year start). A stipend and AmeriCorps benefits apply, with start by July/August 2025 in locations across the U.S.

Qualifications

• Must be 17–25 by July 1, 2025
• U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• GED or high school diploma or some college
• Commitment to AmeriCorps service and start by July/August 2025

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Support literacy and math development
• Collaborate with teachers on instruction
• Create engaging, safe classroom spaces in collaboration with teachers
• Assist with after-school and enrichment programs
• Document student progress and participate in data reviews
