Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches and mentors, supporting elementary to high school students to achieve academic progress, better attendance, and positive school behaviors.

You will plan and monitor individual progress, work with teachers on in-class activities, and participate in school-wide initiatives. Training is provided at year start, with a comprehensive benefits package and living stipend.

Qualifications

• 2–4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to support you.
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students.
• Collaborate with teachers and school staff to monitor progress and provide in-class assistance.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor elementary, middle and/or high school students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities by student level.
• Create and implement behavior management strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and analyze student progress data.
• Help create an engaging, safe classroom space in partnership with the teacher.
• Support extended day and virtual programming for students before/during/after school.
