Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to help them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors in school. You will plan and monitor individual progress and collaborate with teachers on classroom instruction and student support.

The role includes 2–4 weeks of initial training, with ongoing support from partner teachers and school staff to ensure effective service and impact on student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching and mentoring students is beneficial but not required.
• 2–4 weeks of training provided at the start of the year.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to improve academic performance, attendance, and behavior.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and support teachers in class instruction.
• Assist with small-group and 1:1 literacy and math activities.
• Contribute to schoolwide initiatives to increase student engagement and families’ involvement.
