Job summary

City Year is seeking entry-level AmeriCorps members to coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels. You will support academic success, attendance, and positive behaviors in partnership with teachers and school staff.

You will participate in initial training and work with teachers to monitor progress and deliver targeted student support throughout the program year.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program.
• Agree to and complete a background check.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to help academic success, attendance, and positive behavior.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress with teachers and staff.
• Support teachers with in-class instruction and student assistance.
• Participate in 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year.
