Job summary

City Year is seeking entry-level AmeriCorps members to coach and mentor students across elementary to high school. You will support academic progress, improve attendance, and help develop positive classroom behavior with scaffolded activities and guidance from teachers.

A 2–4 week training program is provided at year start. You will participate in extended day and after-school programs, supporting enrichment, academic intervention, leadership development, and family engagement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Citizenship or legal permanent resident status required

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Develop literacy and/or math activities by student level
• Create and implement a behavior management system
• Foster interpersonal skills through daily practice and reflection
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and analyze student progress in City Year data system
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space in collaboration with teachers
• Support extended day and after-school programs, including enrichment and clubs

Education

GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
