Job summary

City Year is seeking entry-level AmeriCorps members to coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels. You will support academic achievement, attendance, and positive behaviors while partnering with teachers to deliver in-class and after-school initiatives.

As part of City Year AmeriCorps, you will undergo 2–4 weeks of training and join a team dedicated to helping students succeed and prepare for college and community contribution.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups to support academic success.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and collaborate with teachers.
• Develop literacy and math activities tailored to student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Support extended day and after-school programs and youth engagement activities.
• Assist with data collection, recording and monitoring of student progress.
