Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps is seeking entry-level, paid full-time members to coach and mentor students across elementary, middle, and high schools. You will support academic success, improve attendance, and help build positive behaviors while collaborating with teachers and school staff.

The role includes 2–4 weeks of initial training and ongoing support to ensure successful service. This is a national AmeriCorps program aiming to empower students to thrive and contribute to their communities.

Qualifications

• All City Year AmeriCorps members undergo 2-4 weeks of training at the start of the year.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups to support literacy and math.
• Plan and monitor student progress and collaborate with teachers on in-class instruction and student support.
• Assist with whole-school initiatives to boost student engagement and attendance.
• Support the development of positive behaviors and interpersonal skills throughout the school day.

Education

GED or high school diploma; some college experience; or college degree
