Job summary

City Year is seeking an entry-level City Year AmeriCorps member to coach and mentor students across elementary, middle, and/or high school settings. You will support academic success, improve attendance, and help develop positive school behaviors while monitoring progress with teachers.

2-4 weeks of training are provided at the outset, and you will work closely with partner teachers and school staff. Benefits include a bi-weekly living stipend and various City Year programs.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms
• Agree to and complete a background check
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Develop literacy and/or math activities and monitor progress
• Create and implement behavior management strategies
• Foster interpersonal skills through daily practice
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and analyze student data
• Contribute to safe, engaging classroom spaces
