Job summary

City Year is seeking entry-level AmeriCorps Members to coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels. You will support academic growth, improve attendance, and help develop positive school behaviors.

Initial training is provided, with ongoing collaboration with teachers and staff throughout the year. You will participate in extended day and after-school programming, with stipends and AmeriCorps benefits, and opportunities for growth within City Year locations across the

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms
• Agree to and complete a background check
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025

Responsibilities

• Coaching and mentoring students one-on-one and in small groups
• Develop literacy and math skills with varied activities by student level
• Create and implement behavior management systems
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and monitor student progress
• Support school initiatives to increase engagement with students and families
• Participate in after-school and virtual programming and events
