Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches and mentors in elementary to high schools, helping students achieve academic progress, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors.

The role includes planning and monitoring individual student progress, collaborating with teachers on in-class support, and participating in school-wide initiatives. Training is provided at the start of the year.

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching or mentorship is not required; training will be provided.
• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident; authorized to work in the U.S.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Support literacy and math skills through diverse activities.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor progress and assist in class.
• Contribute to school-wide programs and extended day/virtual activities.
• Help create a safe, engaging classroom environment.
