Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps member serves as a student success coach and mentor, working with elementary to high school students to boost academic achievement, attendance, and positive school behaviors. You will plan, monitor progress, and collaborate with teachers to support instruction and student growth.

Training is provided (2–4 weeks) at year start, with ongoing partnership with teachers and school staff. City Year offers a comprehensive benefits package and a living stipend as part of AmeriCorps

Qualifications

• Experience in all these tasks is not necessary. We provide 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to support you.
• You will work with partner teachers and school staff every step of the way.
• Coaching and mentoring students requires patience, adaptability and strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Support literacy and math skill-building with varied activities by student level.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress and participate in data reviews.

Education

GED or high school diploma

Some college experience or college degree
