Job summary

City Year, an AmeriCorps program, seeks an entry-level student success coach and mentor to support elementary, middle and high school students. As a City Year AmeriCorps member, you will coach and mentor students to improve academic success, attendance and behavior, plan progress, and collaborate with teachers to support instruction and student services.

Training is provided at the start of the year for 2–4 weeks and you will serve full-time.

Qualifications

• Experience in all these tasks is not necessary. We provide 2-4 weeks of training at the beginning of the year to support you.
• Plus, you will work with partner teachers and school staff every step of the way.
• Develop interpersonal skills and collaborate with teachers and team members to monitor student progress.

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities by student level, encouraging completion.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Develop interpersonal skills throughout the day using proven learning strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and monitor student progress in City Year’s data system.
• Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space in collaboration with the teacher.
• Support after-school and extended programs including academic enrichment and clubs.
