Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members serve as student success coaches and mentors in schools, supporting elementary to high school students to improve academics, attendance and behavior. You will plan and monitor individual progress, work with teachers on in-class instruction, and contribute to whole-school initiatives.

Entry-level, paid, full-time positions include training at the start of the year, ongoing coaching from school staff, and a bi-weekly living stipend plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident (Authorization to work in the U.S. is not sufficient).
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program

Responsibilities

• Coaching and mentoring students 1:1 and in small groups
• Develop literacy and/or math skills through varied activities
• Create and implement behavior management strategies
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to monitor student progress and participate in data reviews
• Create engaging, safe, and healthy classroom spaces in partnership with teachers
• Support and participate in extended day and virtual programming for students before, during, and after school
