Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels. You will plan, monitor progress, and support teachers with instruction and student engagement, including 1:1 and small-group work to boost academics and attendance.

We provide 2–4 weeks of training and ongoing support, with stipends and AmeriCorps benefits. This entry-level role emphasizes growth, service, and community impact.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Be 17–25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 and pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities.
• Create and implement a behavior management system.
• Collaborate with teachers and track student progress in City Year data system.
• Create an engaging, safe classroom space with the teacher.
• Support extended day and virtual programming before, during and after school.
