Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary, middle and/or high school levels to improve academic outcomes, attendance, and behavior. You will plan and monitor individual progress and collaborate with teachers on classroom support and student intervention.

We provide 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year and ongoing support from school staff, with a paid full-time AmeriCorps position and a focus on community impact.

Qualifications

• Experience not required; 2–4 weeks of training at start of year provided.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with students, teachers and staff.
• Ability to monitor student progress and support classroom instruction.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to achieve academic success and better attendance.
• Plan and monitor progress for individual students and groups.
• Collaborate with teachers on in-class support and student interventions.
• Assist with creating a safe, engaging classroom environment.
