Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members are stationed to coach and mentor students across elementary, middle, and high schools, helping them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors. You will plan and monitor progress and work with teachers on in-class and small-group support.

City Year provides 2–4 weeks of initial training and ongoing guidance, with a focus on collaboration with teachers and school staff throughout the year to positively impact student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or eligible for federal work programs.
• Commitment to City Year AmeriCorps program terms and background checks.
• Ability to begin by July/August 2025 and work with diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

• Work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups
• Develop literacy and math activities by student level
• Create and implement a behavior management system
• Develop interpersonal skills through daily activities and reflections
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and analyze student progress
• Create an engaging, safe classroom space with the teacher
• Support extended day and after-school programs and events
• Assist in recognizing student growth in math, literacy, attendance, and behavior
