Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary to high school, helping them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors. You will plan and monitor individual progress and work with teachers on in-class support and student engagement.

City Year provides 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year and ongoing collaboration with partner teachers and school staff to support you in this entry-level, full-time role.

Responsibilities

• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students (1:1 and small groups)
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students
• Foster interpersonal skills through learning, reflection, and repetition
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and analyze student progress data and maintain a safe classroom space
