City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students from elementary to high school, helping them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors. You will plan and monitor progress and collaborate with teachers on in-class instruction and student support.

We provide 2–4 weeks of training at the start, then ongoing guidance as you work with partner teachers and school staff. You’ll also support extended day programming and school-wide initiatives, while benefiting

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program.
• Agree to and complete a background check.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 (start date varies by location).

Responsabilités

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and/or math activities tailored to student level.
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students.
• Develop interpersonal skills through daily activities and reflection.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and monitor student progress.
• Create engaging, safe classroom spaces in collaboration with teachers.
• Support extended day and virtual programming before, during and after school.
• Contribute to school-wide initiatives recognizing student growth in math, literacy, attendance and behavior.
