Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to help them achieve academic success and improve attendance across elementary, middle, and high school levels. You will plan and monitor individual progress, work with teachers on in-class instruction, and support whole-school initiatives to boost engagement.

Training is provided at the start of the year, with ongoing collaboration with partner teachers and school staff to support students and families.

Responsibilities

• Coaching and mentoring students to achieve academic success
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and support teachers in the classroom
• Assist with literacy and math activities and behavior management
• Collaborate with teachers and team to monitor data and student progress
• Create an engaging, safe, and healthy classroom space in partnership with the teacher
• Support extended day and virtual programs before, during, and after school
• Contribute to events recognizing student growth in math, literacy, attendance and behavior
