Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members provide coaching and mentoring to elementary through high school students to boost academic success, attendance, and positive behavior. You’ll plan and monitor individual progress and partner with teachers on classroom support and after-school activities.

The role starts with 2–4 weeks of training, then collaborative work with teachers and school staff, contributing to a safe and engaging learning environment throughout the day.

Qualifications

• No prior required; training provided (2–4 weeks) at start of program.
• Experience coaching/mentoring students is a plus but not required.
• Willingness to work with teachers and school staff to support students.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math activities tailored to each student.
• Create and implement behavior management strategies for students.
• Monitor and record student progress in City Year systems.
• Collaborate with teachers to support classroom instruction and student engagement.
• Participate in school-wide initiatives and family engagement programs.
