Job summary

SouthState Bank seeks an experienced Consumer Real Estate Underwriter to assess loan risk, verify documents, and ensure policy adherence. This role focuses on underwriting and review of consumer real estate loans, with emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and profitability of the loan portfolio.

Responsibilities include pre-qualification discussions, approving loans within authority, analyzing tax returns, and reviewing valuation methods. Strong communication and banking knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business/admin/finance or related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years' consumer underwriting experience in banking.
• Strong English reading, writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite consumer real estate loans within prescribed timeframes.
• Review documentation to ensure collateral security.
• Be available for pre-qualification discussions with lenders.
• Make approval decisions within authority and analyze tax returns.
• Perform cash flow analysis and review valuation methods (tax assessments, appraisals, AVMs).
• Present a neat, professional appearance in line with bank policy.
• Accept other duties as assigned.
