Job summary

SouthState Bank in Virginia seeks an experienced consumer loan underwriter to join our team. You will underwrite consumer real estate loans, discuss pre-qualification with lenders, and ensure that documentation aligns with policy.

You will review approvals within your authority, analyze tax returns and cash flows, and assess valuations using tax assessments, appraisals, and AVMs. A professional appearance and strong banking knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years consumer underwriting in banking
• Good interpersonal skills, good computer skills
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English

Responsibilities

• Underwrite consumer real estate loans within prescribed time frames
• Available for pre-qualification discussion with lender, prior to loan submission
• Responsible for reviewing and making approval decisions with respect to loans within his/her authority
• Analyze tax returns and prepare cash flow analysis
• Responsible for performing review of valuation methods to include tax assessments, appraisals and AVMs
• Presents a neat and professional personal appearance, in accordance with bank policy
