Job summary

Axon 911’s Carbyne Voice team is building the cloud-based infrastructure that handles emergency calls, ensuring the call-handling engine is reliable and scalable for PSAPs nationwide. The Staff UC Software Engineer will design, implement, and maintain this critical system with a focus on uptime and fault tolerance.

This hybrid role requires four days per week in our Boston office, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver a robust, cloud-native voice platform for public safety.

Qualifications

• Deep experience with VoIP/UC systems and SIP protocol.
• Cloud platform experience, ideally AWS.
• Familiarity with open-source VoIP tools such as FreeSWITCH and Kamailio.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop cloud-based voice infrastructure for SIP routing and call state management.
• Build and maintain integrations with telephony providers, PSAPs, and partners for end-to-end reliability.
• Drive major features and architectural evolution of the voice platform.
• Collaborate with operations, networking, and engineering to ensure visibility and reliability.
• Participate in on-call rotations or incident response for production voice infrastructure.
