Axon 911 is seeking a Staff VoIP Engineer to design, build, and maintain cloud-based voice infrastructure for emergency 911 systems. You will focus on SIP routing, call state management, and redundancy, ensuring no call fails in production environments in a life-critical platform.

You will collaborate with operations, networking, and engineering teams in a hybrid role, with four days per week in our Manhattan office, shaping the future of public safety communications.

Qualifications

Experience with VoIP/UC systems and SIP protocol.
Cloud experience, AWS preferred.
Familiarity with open-source VoIP tools (FreeSWITCH, Kamailio).
Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication.
Comfort handling high-responsibility, life-critical systems.

Responsibilities

Design and build cloud-based VoIP infrastructure for emergency 911 systems.
Ensure end-to-end call reliability and routing for SIP traffic.
Integrate with telephony providers, PSAPs, and partners.
Drive architecture evolution and platform enhancements.
Participate in on-call rotations or incident response.
