Job summary

Axon 911’s Carbyne Voice team is building the infrastructure that handles emergency calls — in the cloud. This Senior UC Software Engineer role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining a scalable voice platform to ensure every call is reliable for PSAPs nationwide.

You’ll work in a hybrid role with four days per week in Boston, helping evolve a cloud-native, life-critical system and collaborating closely with operations, networking, and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Experience with VoIP/SIP-based applications and systems.
• Cloud platform experience in building distributed fault-tolerant services.
• Familiarity with FreeSWITCH and Kamailio.
• Ability to work across networking, operations and product teams.
• Demonstrated ownership and responsibility for critical live systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop cloud-based voice infrastructure for emergency 911 systems.
• Build and maintain integrations with telephony providers, PSAPs, and partners to ensure call reliability.
• Drive major features and architectural evolution of the voice platform.
• Collaborate with operations, networking, and engineering for system visibility and reliability.
• Participate in on-call rotations for production voice infrastructure.
