Job summary

Axon 911 is building a cloud-native voice platform to handle emergency calls, with a Staff UC Software Engineer driving design and implementation. This hybrid role requires four days per week in our Manhattan office, shaping a high-reliability system used by PSAPs nationwide.

You will design cloud-based VoIP infrastructure, integrate with providers and external partners, and evolve the platform architecture to ensure uptime and extensibility.

Qualifications

• Deep experience with VoIP/UC systems and SIP protocol.
• Cloud platform experience, ideally AWS.
• Familiarity with open-source VoIP tools such as FreeSWITCH and Kamailio.
• Comfort operating in a highly cross-functional environment.
• Thrive under meaningful responsibility and mission.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop cloud-based voice infrastructure for SIP routing and call state management.
• Build integrations with telephony providers and PSAPs for end-to-end reliability.
• Drive features and architectural evolution of the voice platform.
• Collaborate with operations, networking, and engineering to ensure visibility and reliability.
• Participate in on-call rotations for production voice infrastructure.
