Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the FCM team to architect and own the end-to-end lifecycle of the futures platform, including market data, order routing, settlement, and risk.

You will drive a major replatforming with hands-on coding and cross-functional collaboration. You will mentor engineers, raise code quality, and set a high technical bar while operating in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience with distributed systems ownership.
• Direct FCM or derivatives experience across futures lifecycle components.
• Proficiency in a modern backend language (Go preferred; Java or similar) with event-driven architectures.
• Experience in regulated or financial environments where auditability matters.
• End-to-end delivery of replatforming projects with hands-on coding.

Responsibilities

• Own design and architecture across the FCM core from market data to settlement and risk.
• Drive next-gen replatforming and reduce legacy dependencies while improving stability.
• Set technical bar through reviews and standards, addressing critical debt.
• Collaborate with Product, Risk, Ops, Finance, and Compliance to deliver auditable systems.
• Mentor engineers to raise code quality and architectural rigor.
