Coinbase, Inc. is building the future of regulated derivatives as part of the Institutional Everything Exchange, and the FCM team needs a Staff Software Engineer who will be a hands-on anchor across market data, order entry, settlement, and risk.

You will lead a major replatforming onto next-gen architecture, own design and architecture across the FCM core, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product, risk, and operations to deliver auditable systems in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience in production-grade distributed systems.
• Direct FCM or derivatives experience preferred, with lifecycle ownership.
• Proficient in modern backend languages (Go preferred; Java or similar).
• Experience in regulated financial environments with auditability.

Responsibilities

• Own design and architecture across the FCM core from data to risk.
• Lead next-gen replatforming and reduce legacy dependencies.
• Set technical bar through code reviews and standards.
• Collaborate with product, risk, ops, and compliance to deliver auditable systems.
