Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer on the FCM team to own design and architecture across the core FCM stack, from market data to settlement and risk, supporting a major replatforming.

You will mentor engineers, drive end-to-end delivery, and collaborate with product, risk, ops, finance, and compliance to ship auditable, high‑reliability systems in a regulated trading environment. This remote‑first role offers quarterly in‑person surges and a base salary in the USD range listed

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience in production‑grade distributed systems.
• Direct FCM or derivatives experience and hands‑on ownership of futures lifecycle.
• Deep proficiency in a modern backend language (Go preferred; Java or similar).
• Experience in a regulated financial environment with auditability.
• Track record delivering end‑to‑end replatforming or migrations while coding hands‑on.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight.

Responsabilités

• Own design and architecture across the FCM core from market data to settlement.
• Drive next‑gen replatforming and reduce legacy vendor dependencies.
• Set technical bar through code reviews and standards, reducing critical debt.
• Partner across pods and cross‑functionally with Product, Risk, Ops, Finance, and Compliance.
• Mentor engineers to elevate code quality and architectural rigor.
