Job summary

SCI Summit Consulting, LLC seeks an experienced underwriter to lead evaluation and underwriting of new and renewal business, ensuring alignment with guidelines and risk appetite. The role develops risk assessment models and collaborates with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients.

You will document decisions, ensure regulatory compliance, evaluate renewals, and communicate strategies to internal teams. Travel to client sites is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance or related field or equivalent experience.
• Generally, minimum of 13 years of experience in underwriting or related field.
• Possession of or progress toward AU/CPCU/CIC/INS/ARM or similar designation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads the evaluation and underwriting of new and renewal business, ensuring alignment with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
• Develops and implements advanced risk assessment models to inform coverage, pricing, and terms.
• Fosters partnerships with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to obtain information and guidance.
• Procures and analyzes motor vehicle reports, loss history reports, and external inspections to support underwriting decisions.
• Ensures proper documentation of underwriting decisions and regulatory compliance.
• Evaluates complex policy renewals and modifications for enhancements and risk mitigation.
• Communicates underwriting strategies and decisions to internal teams, agents, and brokers.
