Job summary

SCI Summit Consulting, LLC is seeking an experienced underwriting leader for a remote role in the United States. You will evaluate and underwrite new and renewal business, develop advanced risk assessment models, and collaborate with actuaries, agents, and clients to obtain relevant information and guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 13+ years of underwriting or related field experience; professional designations encouraged (AU, CPCU, CIC, INS, ARM).
• Strong knowledge of underwriting policies, risk assessment, and interstate insurance regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead evaluation and underwriting of new and renewal business in line with underwriting guidelines.
• Develop and implement risk assessment models to inform pricing, terms, and coverage.
• Foster partnerships with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to obtain required information.
• Procure and analyze reports (motor vehicle, loss history, external inspections) to support decisions.
• Document underwriting decisions and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Evaluate renewals and modifications for opportunities to improve risk and terms.
• Communicate underwriting strategies to internal teams, agents, and brokers.
• Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions.
• Maintain relationships with customers and colleagues to generate and retain business.
• May assist with talent decisions and performance management for direct reports.
