Job summary

SCI Summit Consulting, LLC is seeking an experienced underwriter to lead evaluation and underwriting of new and renewal business for workers’ compensation across multiple states. You will price, term, and assess risk while documenting decisions and ensuring regulatory compliance.

You will work with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to obtain needed information, monitor market trends, and mentor staff as needed. This is a remote role with travel as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 13 years of experience in Underwriting or a related field.
• Professional designations such as AU, CPCU, CIC, INS or ARM preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; advanced negotiation and decision-making ability.

Responsibilities

• Leads the evaluation and underwriting of new and renewal business, ensuring alignment with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
• Develops and implements advanced risk assessment models for coverage, pricing, and terms.
• Fosters partnerships with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to obtain information and provide guidance.
• Procures and analyzes reports to support underwriting decisions.
• Ensures documentation of underwriting decisions and compliance with regulations.
• Evaluates complex renewals and modifications for risk mitigation and enhancements.
• Communicates underwriting strategies to internal teams, agents, and brokers.
• Monitors industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions.
• Maintains relationships with customers and coworkers to generate and retain business.
• Monitors underwriting practices and assists with strategic adjustments.
