Job summary

HDR is seeking a Transmission EPC Principal to join our national Power Delivery Practice. In this AD leadership role, you will drive pursuit, risk analysis and FEED development for transmission projects up to 500 kV, coordinating with HDR teams and partners across multiple locations in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

You will guide scope, schedule and budget, mentor engineers, and help transition pursuits to execution while preserving safety, quality and efficiency in delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil and/or Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Engineering License.
• Project Management Professional (PMP).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in transmission design.
• Minimum 5 years building and leading engineering teams on EPC projects.
• Experience developing EPC design and construction packages.
• Experience performing all aspects of transmission line design, procurement and construction up to 500kV.
• Up to 20% travel.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Pursuit Champion / Manager on Transmission EPC projects and transition to Project Manager and execution team.
• Facilitate discussion on risk analysis, preliminary routing and design and bill-of-material takeoff support; offer value engineering and constructability solutions.
• Lead HDR scope, schedule and budget development with focus on activities and risks unique to AD projects; coordinate with land survey, geotechnical, distribution, substation, environmental, real estate and GIS staff.
• Estimate technical investments prior to Go/No-Go discussions; share risk evaluation with leadership to determine pursuit.
• Assist in Go/No-Go discussions, project risk assessments, SOQs, proposals, interviews, and negotiations as required.
• Develop FEED templates and design standards for transmission line EPC pursuits and projects.
