Job summary

HDR is seeking a national Transmission EPC Principal to lead pursuit, risk analysis, and FEED development within our Power Delivery Practice. You will guide technical bid development, estimate budgets, and coordinate with HDR’s global staff and partners to transition pursuits to execution.

The role requires strong leadership across remote teams, proficiency in transmission design, and the ability to manage scope, schedule, and cost. Up to 20% travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil and/or Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Engineering License
• Project Management Professional (PMP)
• Minimum 10 years of experience in transmission design.
• Minimum 5 years building and leading engineering teams on EPC projects.
• Experience developing EPC design and construction packages.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Pursuit Champion / Manager on Transmission EPC projects. Transition duties to Project Manager after award.
• Facilitate discussion on risk analysis, preliminary routing and design; provide value engineering and constructability solutions.
• Lead scope, schedule and budget development for AD projects; coordinate with land survey, geotechnical, GIS, environmental teams.
• Estimate technical investments prior to Go/No-Go; share risk evaluation with leadership.
• Interface with contractors and subconsultants during pursuit and project phases; drive risk discussions.
• Assist in Go/No-Go discussions, risk assessments, SOQs, proposals and negotiations.
• Develop FEED templates and standards; build out front-end engineering capabilities.
• Provide technical leadership as engineering manager or discipline lead.
