Job summary

HDR is seeking a national Transmission EPC Principal to join our Power Delivery Practice. You will drive pursuit strategies, coordinate with engineering and construction teams, and guide projects from bid through execution, with a focus on FEED and front-end engineering for AD methodologies.

The role requires strong leadership, broad EPC program experience, and capability to manage risk across transmission line packages up to 500kV.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil and/or Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Engineering License.
• 10 years of experience in transmission design.
• Experience leading EPC projects and engineering teams.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, PLS-Tower, MFAD, and LPILE.
• Ability to travel up to 20%

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Pursuit Champion / Manager on Transmission EPC projects and transition to Project Manager after award.
• Collaborate with partners and HDR leads on risk analysis, routing design, and BOM takeoff support.
• Lead scope, schedule and budget development for AD projects, coordinating with multiple teams.
• Interface with contractors and HDR subconsultants during pursuit and project phases to drive risk discussions.
• Assist in Go/No-Go discussions, project risk assessments, SOQs, proposals, interviews, and negotiations.
• Help build FEED teams and templates for EPC pursuits and projects.
• Provide technical leadership as engineering manager or discipline lead.
• Develop standards, templates, drawings, and processes for EPC pursuits.
• Mentor and lead Project Managers and discipline practitioners.
• Perform other duties as needed.
