Job summary

HDR is seeking a national Transmission EPC Principal to lead Pursuit activities and drive risk-based design and estimation within our Power Delivery Practice. You will collaborate with HDR partners, guide scope and budget, and help transition pursuits to execution teams across multiple locations.

The role requires a strong background in transmission design, EPC project leadership, and the ability to manage front‑end engineering and design (FEED) activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, and/or Mechanical Engineering.
• Professional Engineering License.
• Project Management Professional (PMP).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in transmission design.
• Minimum 5 years leading engineering teams on EPC projects.
• Experience with PLS‑CADD, PLS‑Pole, PLS‑Tower, MFAD, and LPILE.
• Experience developing EPC design and construction packages.
• Experience in transmission line design, procurement and construction up to 500kV.
• Understanding of routing, structure spotting, material selection and foundation plans.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Pursuit Champion / Manager on Transmission EPC projects and transition to PM after award.
• Collaborate with partners and HDR leads on risk analysis, routing, design, and BOM support.
• Lead scope, schedule and budget development for AD projects; coordinate with related teams.
• Estimate technical investments; share risk findings with leadership for go/no-go decisions.
• Interface with contractors and subconsultants during pursuit and project phases.
• Assist in Go/No‑Go discussions, risk assessments, SOQs, proposals, interviews, negotiations.
• Help build FEED teams and templates; develop standards, drawings, and processes.
• Mentor Project Managers, Engineering Managers and discipline specialists.
