Job summary

Affirm is building its own bank and this Senior Software Engineer role sits in the engineering team responsible for vendor-integrated banking infrastructure, durable workflows, data platform, and operational tooling that underpins the bank's deposit product and card issuing initiatives.

You will join a small, AI-native team with exposure to senior leadership, owning systems from design to production while shipping high-impact features with a focus on reliability and regulatory alignment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with ownership through launch and operations.
• Experience in regulated environments requiring examiner-facing documentation.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, IaC, and data platforms.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for executives and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own bank systems end-to-end across cloud infrastructure, data platform, durable workflow orchestration, CI/CD, networking, and vendor integrations.
• Improve code review standards, documentation, and team effectiveness on a small team.
• Ship AI-first features and agentic workflows to enhance delivery and operations.
• Manage third-party vendor relationships end-to-end, including integration and audits.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Internal Audit from day one.
• Set up monitoring, runbooks, and practices for reliability and audit readiness.
• Communicate technical strategy and constraints to non-engineering stakeholders.
• Mentor peers and help grow the engineering team.
