Job summary

Affirm is building its own bank and this Senior Software Engineer role sits in the engineering team that runs it. You will own bank systems end-to-end, from cloud infrastructure to data platform and CI/CD, with responsibility for incident response and partner integrations.

You will work alongside senior engineers and leadership to ship AI-first tooling, manage vendor relationships, and ensure examiner-ready documentation.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with ownership through launch and operations
• Ambiguity tolerance and ability to move fast while balancing engineering judgment
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and agentic workflows
• Strong systems thinking across cloud infra, IaC, and data platforms
• Comfort representing technical work to non-engineering stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Own bank systems end-to-end: design, build, integrate, operate, and maintain incident response for core surfaces
• Set and uplift coding standards, documentation, and team effectiveness in a small, high-skill team
• Ship AI-first solutions and leverage AI tools to improve code, reviews, runbooks, and operations
• Manage vendor relationships across third-party banking tech
• Produce examiner-ready decisions, designs, and runbooks for audit readiness
• Maintain operational posture with monitoring, runbooks, and audit-ready practices
• Communicate strategy and tradeoffs to executives and non-engineering stakeholders
• Mentor new engineers and help grow the team over time
