Job summary

Affirm is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join its AI-native bank engineering team. You will own core bank systems end-to-end—from cloud infrastructure to data platform and workflow orchestration—while applying AI tools to accelerate development and runbooks.

You will maintain strong vendor relationships and collaborate with Compliance, Risk and Internal Audit. You will influence a small, capable team, drive clean design and documentation, and ship high-quality code in a regulated

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience.
• Comfortable in ambiguity and taking ownership.
• Bias toward simplicity in a small, lean team environment.
• Strong interest in leveraging AI to drive outcomes.
• Strong systems thinking across public cloud (AWS), IaC (Terraform), and data platforms (Snowflake).
• Experience working in regulated environments and communicating with non-engineering stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own bank systems end-to-end: design, build, integrate, operate, and respond to incidents.
• Set and improve coding standards and runbooks; mentor teammates.
• Ship AI-first solutions using agentic workflows and AI tools.
• Manage vendor relationships end-to-end for third-party services.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Internal Audit from day one.
• Maintain operational posture with monitoring, runbooks, and audit-ready practices.
• Communicate strategy and tradeoffs to executives and non-engineers.
• Grow talent as the team scales with mentorship and leadership.
