Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a senior SCADA Design Lead to drive in-house SCADA design across utility-scale PV, BESS, and wind projects. You’ll produce high-quality drawings, define standards, and mentor engineers while supporting commissioning and long-term reliability.

The role is fully remote with discussion on location during interviews. Key responsibilities include leading SCADA design for large-scale projects, collaborating with OT teams, and ensuring NSE/NERC compliance and documentation

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in electrical, mechanical or energy engineering is preferred.
• 6-8 years of engineering experience in renewable energy or utility-scale PV/BESS/Wind.
• Direct experience drafting SCADA, Networking, electrical, and/or substation designs.
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD
• Advanced knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts
• Advanced knowledge of SCADA networks using Fiber Optics, RS-232/RS-485, Ethernet TCP/IP
• Advanced knowledge of industrial automation protocols (Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA/DA)
• Advanced knowledge of reading and developing diagrams and schematics (power, networking, control)
• Advanced knowledge of power plant operating procedures and regulatory bodies
• Ability to work with subcontractors and field personnel
• Proficiency with project management and scheduling tools
• Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities

• Lead and own in-house SCADA design for utility-scale renewable energy projects.
• Develop designs using AutoCAD, Visio and other tools.
• Define and improve SCADA design standards and best practices.
• Translate complex requirements into scalable system designs.
• Create design documentation (diagrams, maps, wiring diagrams) for SCADA racks and enclosures.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through technical review.
• Collaborate with SOLV OT team to define server and network hardware requirements.
• Drive standardization to reduce design and commissioning effort.
• Present system design reviews in customer-facing meetings and FATs.
• Coordinate with customers, utility reps and field techs for on-site commissioning and handoff.
• Support operations and asset management during handoff.
• Ensure NERC compliance and governance in design and documentation
