Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Senior SCADA Design Lead to drive complex SCADA design workstreams for utility-scale PV, BESS, and wind projects. You will produce high-quality drawings, resolve technical issues, and reinforce SOLV standards while supporting commissioning readiness and long-term reliability.

The role is fully remote with responsibilities spanning design, documentation, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure project success and compliance with NERC and SOLV standards.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in electrical, mechanical, or energy engineering preferred.
• 6–8 years of engineering experience in renewable energy including PV, BESS, or Wind; direct SCADA experience.
• Direct experience drafting SCADA, networking, electrical, or substation drawing sets.
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Advanced knowledge of Layer 2/3 networking concepts and architectures.
• Advanced knowledge of SCADA networks using fiber, RS-232/RS-485, and Ethernet.
• Advanced knowledge of industrial automation protocols (Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA, DA).
• Ability to read and develop electrical, power system, networking, and control diagrams.
• Familiarity with governance bodies and power plant operating procedures.
• Ability to coordinate with sub-contractors and field personnel.
• Proficiency with project management, scheduling, and task-management tools.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead in-house SCADA design for utility-scale projects including PV, BESS, and wind.
• Develop designs using AutoCAD, Visio; produce detailed documentation.
• Define and enforce SCADA design standards across the team.
• Own project scope reviews; translate requirements into scalable designs.
• Review drawings, issue redlines, and ensure quality and timelines.
• Collaborate with SOLV OT on hardware requirements and risk mitigation.
• Drive standardization to reduce effort and improve reliability.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead technical reviews.
• Lead system design reviews in customer-facing meetings and FATs.
• Coordinate with customers and field teams for on-site commissioning and support.
