Job summary
Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Data Security Engineer to implement and operate data protection controls across the enterprise. The role focuses on encryption, access controls, labeling, masking, and secure data pipelines, working with teams across Security Operations, Data & Analytics, and IT.
This is a 100% remote role in SNHU-approved states, with a strong emphasis on governance and automation.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in information security, cloud engineering, database engineering, data engineering.
- 2+ years focused on data protection or database security.
- Bachelor's degree in IT/CS/InfoSec.
- Proficiency with SQL and database security configurations.
- Experience with Azure SQL and SQL Server.
Responsibilities
- Implement encryption controls for data at rest and in transit.
- Enforce least-privilege access models across data platforms and services.
- Harden security configurations for cloud platforms and data services.
- Automate control deployment, configuration assessment, and compliance validation.
- Document implementation guides, runbooks, and technical evidence.
