Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Data Security Engineer to protect institutional data across the enterprise data estate. This remote, LI-Remote role emphasizes encryption, access controls, data classification, masking, and secure data pipelines.

You will work with Security Operations, Data & Analytics, Governance, and IT teams to implement controls, automate deployments, and support audits while maintaining strong data security postures in a 100% remote work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information security or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in information security, cloud engineering, database engineering, data engineering, or a related field, including 2+ years focused on data protection or database security.

Responsibilities

• Implements data protection controls across the enterprise data estate, including classification, masking, tokenization, redaction, and de-identification.
• Configures and operates encryption controls for data at rest and in transit, including CMKs and key rotation.
• Implements least-privilege access models across data platforms, databases, workspaces, and service identities.
• Hardens security configurations for Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure SQL and SQL Server.
• Automates control deployment, configuration assessment, and compliance validation via scripting and IaC.
