Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Data Security Engineer to implement and operate data protection controls across the enterprise data estate, including encryption, access controls, data masking, and labeling enforcement. You will work with Security Operations, Data & Analytics, and IT teams on platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and Azure SQL.

This 100% remote role supports teams across approved states, requiring strong data security, IaC, and incident response skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information security or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in information security, cloud engineering, data engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency with SQL and cloud data platforms such as Azure SQL and SQL Server.

Responsibilities

• Implements, operates, and improves data protection controls across the enterprise data estate.
• Configure and manage encryption, access controls, and data masking or de-identification.
• Harden security configurations for Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure SQL, and SQL Server.
• Automate control deployment and integrate telemetry with Security Operations for incidents.
• Provide hands-on technical support to teams designing or operating data solutions.
