Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is hiring a Data Security Engineer to implement and improve data protection across the enterprise data estate. The role focuses on encryption, key management, access control, data classification, masking, and secure data pipelines.

You will collaborate with Security Operations, Data & Analytics, Governance, and IT teams, reporting to the Deputy CISO, in a 100% remote-capable role from approved states.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with SQL, including permission and schema assessment.
• Hands-on implementation of classification, labeling, masking, DLP, and secure data practices.
• Scripting/automation using platform APIs or IaC for security controls.
• Strong written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Implements data protection controls across the enterprise data estate.
• Operates encryption controls for data at rest and in transit; manages keys and CMK.
• Implements least-privilege access models and conducts entitlement reviews.
• Harden security configurations for cloud platforms and data services.
