Job summary

SelectTime is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and Subject Matter Expert to drive complex payroll tax cases, author SOPs, and coach a technical team. You will resolve high-stakes escalations, govern SOPs, and build workforce capacity while ensuring compliance and process excellence.

The role offers flexible, remote work with 20–40 hours per week, overtime eligibility, and collaboration with Intuit customers across the US.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with complex tax defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Proven lead/SME experience with coaching or mentoring junior staff.
• Expert knowledge of US payroll tax regulations across jurisdictions including PA, OH.
• Advanced writing skills to author SOPs and technical documents for a tax processor audience.
• Strong ownership of SLAs and proactive issue resolution.
• Experience handling highly sensitive escalations independently.
• Experience in contact center or back-office operations.
• Comfort with using AI tools to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary real-time go-to technical expert for TP1, TP2, and TP3 staff.
• Own authoring, review, and approval of SOPs and KB articles across core operations.
• Conduct quarterly coaching sessions using SBIC model to proactively close skill gaps.
• Lead or support team huddles and stand-ups when the M1 manager is unavailable.
• Oversee WIP management, backlog reduction, and aging reports to guide staffing.
• Resolve the most severe payroll tax notices across jurisdictions.
• Approve complex amended Federal and State returns with audit trails.
• Identify systemic trends and risks, communicating data-driven recommendations.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings with risk-informed options.
